[jitsi-users] Jibri

#1

Hi,

Dear Jitsi Users,

Please could You help me to fix the issue with Jibri recording.
I have installed the Jibri via
https://github.com/jitsi/jibri#installation-notes but actually i cant see
any "Recording" button while connecting to some conference room. The "Live
streaming button has appeared after installation" but no "Recording" button.
Where can i find out why it is not presented ?

Thanks in advance

Arthur

#2

Did you follow the instructions in this section
<https://github.com/jitsi/jibri#configuring-a-jitsi-meet-environment-for-jibri>
as well? (Changes for the jitsi-meet web config, jicofo, etc.)

Oh, are you saying you see the option to 'live stream' but not record?
These are currently 2 discrete modes (that will hopefully be changing
soon). To change it to file recording you need to change this variable
<https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/config.js#L174> in your
config.js to 'jibri_file' instead of 'jibri'

Hi Brian,

Thanks for info.
Now i do see the "REC" button but while pressing on it i see "Recording
waiting for a member to login" and no files are created in the recordings
path.
I suppose its waiting for the hidden user to connect to xmpp and it seems
it couldnt.
Could You advise how can i check if the configuration is done in a right
way and how to enable recording for any room ?

Best regards
Arthur

Can you attach the jibri logs? That'd be a good place to start.

Not sure I know what you mean here. JibriBrewery is the name of the MUC
Jibri joins on the backend to let a Jicofo know there is a Jibri
available--it's just a backend concept that we use for communicating
availability of Jibris, it's separate from the user video conference Jibri
joins to do the recording.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for info.
Now i do see the "REC" button but while pressing on it i see
"Recording waiting for a member to login" and no files are created in the
recordings path.
I suppose its waiting for the hidden user to connect to xmpp and it
seems it couldnt.
Could You advise how can i check if the configuration is done in a
right way and how to enable recording for any room ?

Best regards
Arthur

Hi,

Finally it is done.
Try to install via Quick install guide then check jibri-xorg and
jibri-icewm services by typing “systemctl status jibri-xorg”.If the daemons
are loaded and active it must work,if not check Xorg processes via “ps aux

grep xorg” and if you see any other process with xorg and display :0 the

jibri will not work correctly, you must disable other xorg processes.

Thanks for you help

Brian,

HOw can i build jibri from source

You can build Jibri from source by cloning it and then running mvn
package. This will build a jar file in target/. Then you can run that by
doing java -jar <path to jar file> --config <path to config file>

and in which file the user for chrome must be changed ?

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean where do we pass the flags for
chrome? That's here
<https://github.com/jitsi/jibri/blob/master/src/main/kotlin/org/jitsi/jibri/selenium/JibriSelenium.kt#L128>
.

Hi Brian,

Unfortunately after reinstallation of our jitsi enviroment with a new
domain name the recording stopped working.
We get "All records are currently busy" message on desktop and in jibri
logs

Failed to read the 'localStorage' property from 'Window': Access is denied
for this document.

Please can you check what is the problem in jibri or in other module that
defects recording option.

Thanks

You can build Jibri from source by cloning it and then running mvn
package. This will build a jar file in target/. Then you can run that by
doing java -jar <path to jar file> --config <path to config file>

and in which file the user for chrome must be changed ?

Not sure what you mean. Do you mean where do we pass the flags for
chrome? That's here
<https://github.com/jitsi/jibri/blob/master/src/main/kotlin/org/jitsi/jibri/selenium/JibriSelenium.kt#L128>
.

Another user reported seeing the same error but unfortunately I have no
idea as I've never seen this. I found this
<https://www.chromium.org/for-testers/bug-reporting-guidelines/uncaught-securityerror-failed-to-read-the-localstorage-property-from-window-access-is-denied-for-this-document>
response
for the error, so you might try that. In general though as far as I know
this isn't an issue anywhere in Jibri itself.

Hmm, we write to localstorage which is what Jitsi meet uses to read certain
persistent values. You're using this on calls running on a jitsi meet
installation, yeah? Have you made any changes? Can you tell if the call
page is being loaded ok?

Do you mean where do we pass the flags for
chrome? That's here
<https://github.com/jitsi/jibri/blob/master/src/main/kotlin/org/jitsi/jibri/selenium/JibriSelenium.kt#L128>
.

This is weird, as Jicofo shouldn't be sending an session-initiate to
the brewery.

Hi Brian,

Thanks you for your help.
Actually i have tried to run the chrome vi --no-sandbox key but no
sence.

How did you try this? Did you build jibri from source?

Also i wanted to ask if only one room can be recorded like in the

installation page "JibriBrewery" ?

Not sure I know what you mean here. JibriBrewery is the name of the
MUC Jibri joins on the backend to let a Jicofo know there is a Jibri
available--it's just a backend concept that we use for communicating
availability of Jibris, it's separate from the user video conference Jibri
joins to do the recording.

I actually just ran into this problem and read a bug where someone
said it happened when it was run as root, and that's exactly what i was
doing. i changed to running it as the jibri user and the error about
chrome failing to start went away.

So looks like a problem with chrome:

So this could be lots of things...maybe chromedriver/chrome
outdated?

Hi Brian,

Thanks for info.
Now i do see the "REC" button but while pressing on it i see
"Recording waiting for a member to login" and no files are created in the
recordings path.
I suppose its waiting for the hidden user to connect to xmpp
and it seems it couldnt.
Could You advise how can i check if the configuration is done
in a right way and how to enable recording for any room ?

Best regards
Arthur

Oh, are you saying you see the option to 'live stream' but not
record? These are currently 2 discrete modes (that will hopefully be
changing soon). To change it to file recording you need to change this
variable
<https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/config.js#L174>
in your config.js to 'jibri_file' instead of 'jibri'
