I noticed some commit messages stating that all Google-specific telephony code had been removed. Does this mean that Jitsi no longer even pretends to support receiving Google Voice calls? Is there some other mechanism that might allow me to receive Google Voice calls with Jitsi? (The docs are so thin and the whole XMPP/telephony thing is so complicated that I'm having a lot of trouble figuring out how to go about using any of this.)

Yes, we did this after Google's announcements that they won't be supporting Google Voice through XMPP any more.
We were doing a lot of black magic to make this happen and there was no point in keeping it if it didn't server a purpose.

More like: Google Voice no longer supports XMPP.
Is there some
other mechanism that might allow me to receive Google Voice calls with
Jitsi?
I am not aware of any ... I believe the whole point was that you should be going through Google's site and generating revenue in order to use their service.
