[jitsi-users] Is it possible to decrease vertical space between the buddies in contact list?

#1

There is quite a bit of empty space between the buddies. Is it possible to decrease it to save up space?

Also, when a buddy is selected, its chat/voice/video buttons always show up under the buddy name, even if there is space on the right. I guess there would be no setting to un-wrap the buttons onto the same line as buddy name. Maybe the dev team would consider putting those icons on the same line and wrapping them only when contact list width is too small? I would appreciate that change!

And again, if I could figure out how to use NetBeans on the Jitsi sources, I would gladly code that myself and provide a patch. So if you have time to walk me through setting up NetBeans project, would be great!

Thank you
Alex

No.

No, I believe there is no such setting.

We are very likely to move to a new UI toolkit in the long term so I do not
expect the UI developers to make such a change.

We have a page at Jitsi.org in the Developer section for that. It may be a
bit outdated but the basics are there already.

Could you tell me which page specifically describes setting up dev env? I am sorry but I could not find it myself. Am I in the right spot – jitsi.org homepage/Development menu?

Thank you
Alex

While you are at it, would you consider making changes to the chat window text?
Right now there is a huge JID, then word (Jabber) and huge date/time on the right.
Underneath that there is message text in tiny grey letters, hardly visible. It is very hard to read light-grey text in tiny letters.

If you could put date/time first in small letters, than optionally JID w/o word Jabber and then message text would follow in a larger font, then it will be easier to read the conversations. We kind of know who we are so reminding us constantly what our JID is and that we are using Jabber sounds like a waste of monitor space.

Thank you
Alex
