Yes, both of these two things did not work.
Now I installed the current version from git and everything is fine.
(Still, I'm sure I had 2.2. Maybe something else has been fixed in the
meanwhile, hm...) Thank you for your support anyway.
Btw: When I played around with the old version, I found this button only by
chance. It does not look like a button (no border, at least in Metal Look and
Feel) and the arrow is very small. So it's quite difficult to figure out that
it's clickable at all. I think that's not very intuitive for new users.

It should show the different resources when you hover your mouse over an
entry in the contact list.
In the chat window, there is a button in the upper left corner of the
place where you compose a message. Clicking it should allow you to
choose between different account and resources.
