[jitsi-users] how to receive voicemail notification from freepbx in jitsi

#1

Hello,

Probably simple. I have jitsi connected to freepbx. Assuming everything else is functional between jitsi and freepbx, how can I receive a voicemail notification on jitsi?

Will it tell me how many voicemails there are? We have 8x8 now and I can listen to voicemails individually. I don't have any voicemails at the moment but this screenshot gives you an idea of what the users are used to:

You need to enter the MWI (Message Waiting Indication) URI in the SIP
account in Jitsi. If you have the hints enabled in FreePBX (see [1]), it
should suffice to enter *98123 (where 123 is the extension number) as the
MWI URI.

Yes, it should show the number of messages. It would be an overly on the
history button of the main window.

Hello,?

I have jitsi connected to freepbx. It's in Users and Devices mode so technically jitsi and the hard phone on my desk is the same extension but it has different device numbers.

Extension 0123
Hard phone device 01230
Jitsi device 01231

Is there a way create the call in jitsi and it be placed via the hard phone? The hard phone could technically work via POE and be connected to the computer that way.

Sincerely,

This would basically be a feature of Asterisk/FreePBX, it would ring your physical phone and start calling the external peer once you pick up. I think there are feature codes available for exactly this scenario, but I'm not sure which one. You'd best ask this in the FreePBX forum.
