[jitsi-users] Hello and a call for help (Jitsi aborts on answer)

#1

Hello,

I am testing Jitsi with a view to using it as my voip client.

However, when a call connects, the application aborts with a trace like the below:

java: pcm.c:2731: snd_pcm_area_copy: Assertion `dst < src || dst >= src + bytes' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

I am using ArchLinux, without PulseAudio (in case that has any effect).

Linux myhost 3.12.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Nov 29 21:14:15 CET 2013 x86_64 GNU/Linux

I've just updated Jitsi to the latest nightly (2.5.20140131) but it made no difference.

I am registered with Sipgate.co.uk and it connects successfully.
I can receive incoming calls but it aborts if I answer.
If I try to call the test number 10000 it aborts immediately (I guess because the call is answered immediately)

I've been reading about how good this client is and would really like to use it instead of others I've tried.
if I can get some pointers to resolving these issues I would really appreciate it.

Thanks,
John

Also, when the app starts I get this (I don't have PulseAudio installed):

  $ jitsi

I am still stuck on this one - I'd really like to get this working, if anyone could give me some guidance.

I've done a complete system update today and it's made no difference.

  * Jitsi 2.4.build.2.4.4997
  * java version "1.7.0_51"
    OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea 2.4.5) (ArchLinux build
    7.u51_2.4.5-1-x86_64)
    OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.51-b03, mixed mode)
  * Linux myhost 3.12.9-2-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Fri Jan 31 10:22:54 CET
    2014 x86_64 GNU/Linux

java: pcm.c:2731: snd_pcm_area_copy: Assertion `dst < src || dst >= src + bytes' failed.
Aborted (core dumped)

Thanks in advance.
