[jitsi-users] health-check timed out, Can not invite participant -- no bridge available

Dear Users,

I am trying to setup Jitsi. I succeeded once after a lot of tries, it seemed that the problems were related to certificates.

I rebooted the server after succeeding but it is not working anymore after the reboot.

I get the following in jicofo.log after starting jicofo:

Hi,

Yes, jvb is running, it is logging constantly.

I did not touch it since my previous mail and now it was working even for 3 endpoints. I check the logs for the last 2-3 days but could not find anything special about when it started to work (nobody is using it yet).

I did a reboot (without changing anything), and now it is not working. The services started but the clients exit just after connecting.

Hi,

I don't know how much time I waited but it was several minutes.

As I wrote previously I restarted it yesterday evening, but it is still not working today morning.

The system is: Ubuntu 16.04.4

root@:~# dpkg -l | grep jitsi
ii jitsi-meet 1.0.2794-1 all WebRTC JavaScript video conferences
ii jitsi-meet-prosody 1.0.2579-1 all Prosody configuration for Jitsi Meet
ii jitsi-meet-web 1.0.2579-1 all WebRTC JavaScript video conferences
ii jitsi-meet-web-config 1.0.2579-1 all Configuration for web serving of Jitsi Meet
ii jitsi-videobridge 1030-1 amd64 WebRTC compatible Selective Forwarding Unit (SFU)
root@:~#

Which DNS settings are needed for the services?

I added

127.0.0.1 jitsi-videobridge.jitsi.example.com jitsi-videobridge
127.0.0.1 auth.jitsi.example.com auth

to /etc/hosts. I also created a DNS record pointing to the internal IP address.

Is there anything else needed?

I found these docs:
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/manual-install.md

But none of them contained information about this, the "manual" document seems outdated. Is there any other doc I can check?

Regards,

Attila

#6

Hi again,

Hi,

I don't know how much time I waited but it was several minutes.

As I wrote previously I restarted it yesterday evening, but it is still not
working today morning.

The system is: Ubuntu 16.04.4

root@:~# dpkg -l | grep jitsi
ii jitsi-meet 1.0.2794-1 all
WebRTC JavaScript video conferences
ii jitsi-meet-prosody 1.0.2579-1 all
Prosody configuration for Jitsi Meet
ii jitsi-meet-web 1.0.2579-1 all
WebRTC JavaScript video conferences
ii jitsi-meet-web-config 1.0.2579-1 all
Configuration for web serving of Jitsi Meet
ii jitsi-videobridge 1030-1 amd64
WebRTC compatible Selective Forwarding Unit (SFU)
root@:~#

Which DNS settings are needed for the services?

I added

127.0.0.1 jitsi-videobridge.jitsi.example.com jitsi-videobridge
127.0.0.1 auth.jitsi.example.com auth

to /etc/hosts. I also created a DNS record pointing to the internal IP
address.

No DNS entries needed for those addresses there are internal to the
system (prosody).

Is there anything else needed?

I found these docs:
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/manual-install.md

But none of them contained information about this, the "manual" document
seems outdated. Is there any other doc I can check?

Can you grab all the logs from /var/log/jitsi and send it to me
personally, so I can check?

Regards
damencho

Hum, this is strange. When did you test, immediately after it
restarted? Or you waited 30 seconds or a minute before trying?
It takes some time, till jicofo health check the jvb and add it to the
pool of healthy jvbs.
Maybe we need to check that code and if possible speed/do immediate
checks on startup.

Hi,

Yes, jvb is running, it is logging constantly.

I did not touch it since my previous mail and now it was working even for
3
endpoints. I check the logs for the last 2-3 days but could not find
anything special about when it started to work (nobody is using it yet).

I did a reboot (without changing anything), and now it is not working.
The
services started but the clients exit just after connecting.

Hi again,

We were exchanging emails and logs offline with Attila, thanks for
that. And we saw a very strange problem.
So what happens:
1. Jicofo starts at 18:13:01 and schedules a check for jvb in 30
seconds. (This is after reboot)
2. Time drifted back to 17:15:38
3. Over an hour pass when the conferences were not working.
4. The time is now 18:13:33 and this is the time when the jvb check is
scheduled and jvb is found and everything starts working.

So this can be affecting and other users and is easily spotted in
jicofo logs if you notice the times. Basically restarting jicofo
should fix the problem.

We were also seeing jvb failing health checks and removed from the
pool of the healthy bridges, maybe due to the same clock change (the
above findings were after disabling the jicofo health checking for
jvbs).

Thanks, Attila, once more for the help.

damencho

Which DNS settings are needed for the services?

I added

127.0.0.1 jitsi-videobridge.jitsi.example.com jitsi-videobridge
127.0.0.1 auth.jitsi.example.com auth

to /etc/hosts. I also created a DNS record pointing to the internal IP
address.

No DNS entries needed for those addresses there are internal to the
system (prosody).

Is there anything else needed?

I found these docs:
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/manual-install.md

But none of them contained information about this, the "manual" document
seems outdated. Is there any other doc I can check?

Can you grab all the logs from /var/log/jitsi and send it to me
personally, so I can check?

Hi,

Can you please check your jvb log. It seems jvb is not running for some
reason.

Dear Users,

I am trying to setup Jitsi. I succeeded once after a lot of tries, it

that the problems were related to certificates.

I rebooted the server after succeeding but it is not working anymore

I get the following in jicofo.log after starting jicofo:

This is a stable installation, I created Let's Encrypt certificate, set
org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS and PUBLIC address,
added
certificates to keystore.

Where is the problem? What should I check?

Thanks in advance.
