[jitsi-users] Group Chat features?

#1

Hello,

Is there concept of persistent group chats in Jitsi? In Jitsi+xmpp combination to be precise.

For example, on Skype, one can add/create 10 people in group and form sort of chatroom, IRC alike but with several benefits
Such as: people who were offline getting group message history, sending/recieving of files to/from everyone in group at once, emoticons, one-click group calls etc...

This thing is little hard to just try out alone, so I wonder can someone share their experiences with similar scenario?

Thank you

I've used those in Skype and I can say that those are very useful.

Some XMPP servers provide some of these features. Off hand, I don't
remember which ones. I use Jitsi for SIP calls to my employer's conference
server, so I really haven't looked into Jitsi's features. As best I know,
most XMPP servers have the capability for persistent chatroom with at least
password protection, some even maintain the ID of the creator so that
person can always access the chatroom.
