[jitsi-users] Fwd: Re: Call non-contact over XMPP/Jingle

#1

Hi Emil,

Thanks for such a clear and informative answer! I can see the issue
clearly, again, perfect response!

Would it be possible for Jitsi to gain a 'call resource' feature, for if
you were aware of the resource? AS I see, this would mimic the idea of
people trying to cal a 'known' home phone number, but in XMPP. This
would then allow the use of a server-side 'Call redirect agent' plugin,
if you were to give out a jid of gray@gqo.be/agent for example.

That would prevent people who don't want to be contacted without
approval from being bothered or harassed, while allowing the extra
functionality. Without a server plugin, it would still allow me to call
a known computer, such as my colleagues' Media PC.

What do you think?

Regards,
Gray.

This is what we used to do with call through Google Voice but it's not
very reliable since it may be blocked at the server. It would be
simpler to run jingle over "message" stanzas that don't require a
resource.
