[jitsi-users] Forcing Authentication for any user

#1

Thanks for Jitsi, and Jitsi Meet. Great projects.

I am new to Jitsi in general. I have been trying to find documentation on
the web without success to configure more than just the default setup. The
default setup worked like a charm.

At this point, I am trying to figure out how to force authentication from
any user that connects to Jitsi Meet, and restrict what users can actually
create a new room.

Could you please let me know how to achieve that?

Is is possible to allow the moderator to control what users are joining the
conference? like having a pop up saying something like: "User ABC wants to
connect, do you want to allow?" and the moderator can choose if that user
actually gets to join the conference.

Thanks in advance,

Elie

This will not work currently. Prosody has an option to restrict room
creation to "admins"[1], but then the Jicofo will spoil everything and
create the room for the user even if he's not an admin. Jitis-meet
would have to be modified to first join MUC room and invite Jicofo
after that. Also some user interface modifications are required.

No, we don't have this feature yet.

Hi Elie,

check the documentation [1] where you can find how to restrict room's
creation only for registered users.

Best,
Stan
