[jitsi-users] flipped webcam image problem with Jitsi Meet

#1

Dear Jitsi users,

I wrote about problem here -
https://translate.google.ee/translate?sl=et&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=https%3A%2F%2Fpingviin.org%2Ffpost82272.html&edit-text=

Even this translation is not perfect, I hope you understand the problem and
taken steps. The problem is horizontally flipped image in webcam using
Jitsi Meet https://meet.jit.si/ Sometimes there is also vertically flipped
image - so also this is mentioned and included to have solution.

Short story is that I would like to broadcast using Jitsi Meet and record
screen at the same time but webcam picture is flipped horisontally. Tried
V4L environment variables, libraries, v4l2ucp but nothing did not help for
browsers. Tested also Chromium, Google Chrome, Opera, Firefox - all with
same problem. Also some cases in broadcasting screen is image flipped but
from internet participants are seeing not flipped and vice versa. Quite
annoying problem.

This means that presenter's slideshow text is flipped horisontally and
cannot be read. As far as I remember, e.g. Bambuser did not have such
issue. But they still have Adobe Flash based broadcaster, which is quite
problematic. Also connectivity will be lost and new record started.

Tested even not only in Linux (Ubuntu, Mageia, Linux Mint, Arch Linux) but
also in MS Windows 8 and Android with different browsers and different
webcams. Same problem with several different computers and webcams. So it
seems to be quite wide and well known problem. All tests were using Jitsi
Meet.

Here I would propose to add clear tool to select audio and video input
device regardless of browser into settings. It seems that only Google
browser can do that properly currently. If I am wrong - please correct me
and explain how can it be done with other browsers.

Also I would propose to add flip image horisontally, vertically or both -
also into settings.

Certainly - recording feature would be appreciated, e.g. locally or to own
network storage (also cloud storages). It would be good to have
connectivity with them.

But yes - as I have tried environment variables, V4L tricks - nothing did
not help - what could be the solution?

Yours faithfully,
Edmund Laugasson

Dear all,

The issue is that at both side there would be expected to see text shown in
presentation at right direction. Currently it seems that on broadcaster
computer the screen it is flipped but for participants who watching in
internet it looks correctly. Would expect that also on broadcasting
computer it is shown correctly.

Yours faithfully,
Edmund Laugasson

This was supposed to be fixed[0] and I cannot reproduce it on beta.meet.jit.si. Please include steps to reproduce.

Regards,
Boris

Dear all,

Also keeping ownership would be appreciated. Currently first user will be
channel owner and can protect with password if wanted to screw up the
broadcast and restrict access. How to avoid this?

Dear all,

Also when clicking to hang up the call - it will not be hang up until I
close the browser or tab. There could be do that it would ask confirmation
to hang up e.g. if I accidentally clicked on that button. But I would
expect that this will really hang up.
