[jitsi-users] First impressions: great work!

#1

Hi there!.

I´ve just installed the latest (daily build?) of Jitsi. I remember
trying "SIP Communicator" several years ago (2007?) but I found it
promising but lacking. Today things are different. CPUs are much
faster, Java is more mature, and JITSI is not only more mature but a
nicer name.

Plus, with today´s news about Microsoft buying Skype, things certainly
doesn´t look good for the future of Skype for Linux.

Having said that, this is a great time to introduce more users (Skype
for Linux users!) into Jitsi.

Two questions:

1. I´m having trouble logging into Jabber.org. I´ve used my newly
created account (fcassia@jabber.org), which _works fine_ in Pidgin for
Win32. But Jitsi (Windows installer) continues giving me "invalid
password" messages, just for Jabber. Any ideas of what might be going
on?

2. Likewise, Facebook chat doesn´t seem to work.

All other services ... AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, work fine.

3. Would it be possible to compile Jitsi to use the JDK 6 "Splash
screen" feature? This allows the app to be packaged with a .JPG splash
screen inside the .JAR, and the splash screen is displayed
INMEDIATELLY, even before the JIT compiler processes the application.

Thanks for your kind words!

Are you still having the issue? I can't reproduce it.

Same here. Have you initialized your facebook username?

All other services ... AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, work fine.

That would be an option yes. I don't think it would rank high on our
priority list but it's still something we'll probably consider at a
point so could you please open an issue?

Cheers,
Emil
