I´ve just installed the latest (daily build?) of Jitsi. I remember
trying "SIP Communicator" several years ago (2007?) but I found it
promising but lacking. Today things are different. CPUs are much
faster, Java is more mature, and JITSI is not only more mature but a
Plus, with today´s news about Microsoft buying Skype, things certainly
doesn´t look good for the future of Skype for Linux.
Having said that, this is a great time to introduce more users (Skype
for Linux users!) into Jitsi.
1. I´m having trouble logging into Jabber.org. I´ve used my newly
created account (email@example.com), which _works fine_ in Pidgin for
Win32. But Jitsi (Windows installer) continues giving me "invalid
password" messages, just for Jabber. Any ideas of what might be going
2. Likewise, Facebook chat doesn´t seem to work.
All other services ... AIM, Yahoo, ICQ, work fine.
3. Would it be possible to compile Jitsi to use the JDK 6 "Splash
screen" feature? This allows the app to be packaged with a .JPG splash
screen inside the .JAR, and the splash screen is displayed
INMEDIATELLY, even before the JIT compiler processes the application.
