[jitsi-users] Firefox multistream and renegotiation for Jitsi Videobridge

#1

Hey all,

Up until recently, applications using Jitsi Videobridge only worked on
Chromium, Chrome, and Opera; but not Firefox.

This limitation is now gone!

After a few months of hard work by Mozilla and Jitsi developers, both
Firefox and Jitsi have added the missing pieces and can now work together.

While this wasn’t the most difficult project on Earth, it wasn’t quite a
walk in the park either. In this Mozilla post
https://hacks.mozilla.org/2015/06/firefox-multistream-and-renegotiation-for-jitsi-videobridge/
we tell you more about the nitty-gritty details of our collaborative
adventure.

Cheers,
George

P.S. You'll have to use FF >= 40 if you want to test this!

Best regards,

Is it also working on firefox ios or android ?

Hi,

Good news

Thank you for your interest in this

Is it also working on firefox ios or android ?

hmm.. I don't think a Firefox version for the iOS platform has been
released. My feeling is that even when its released, it will take some
time to integrate WebRTC support into it. It is possible that it works
on Android (some bleeding edge version, not the stable) but it's not tested.

Cheers,
George

Thanks, George, for the effort!

Apple policy prohibits any browsers not based on Safari. So Dolphin, Opera etc. on iOS are just a different GUI on the Safari rendering engine.

Even though there were rumors about Safari going to support WebRTC, it's not there yet.
