[jitsi-users] Feature Request2

#1

I have new things found which i want to suggest.

1. There is no way to disable the „xyz is now online”, „xyz is now offline”
Messages that appear if a conversation window is left open.

2. Wenn pidgin sends a linebreak it sends
which is not translated by
jitsi but displayed. I am not sure if this count as bug for pidgin or for
jitsi.

3. The OTR Plugin in pidgin has a message „You are sending encrypted
messages to xyz who isnt expecting this” if the state of OTR was one and
the contact is now at differnt machine (without OTR). So you have a simple
way to tell if you should refresh or disable OTR.

All three points found with icq.

Regards
Carsten

Hey Carsten,

(sorry for the delay and for not responding when you first posted this message)

I have new things found which i want to suggest.

1. There is no way to disable the „xyz is now online”, „xyz is now offline”
Messages that appear if a conversation window is left open.

You can do that by setting or provisioning the following property to false:

impl.gui.SHOW_STATUS_CHANGED_IN_CHAT

2. Wenn pidgin sends a linebreak it sends
which is not translated by
jitsi but displayed. I am not sure if this count as bug for pidgin or for
jitsi.

Could you please check if the issue also occurs with the default ICQ client?

3. The OTR Plugin in pidgin has a message „You are sending encrypted
messages to xyz who isnt expecting this” if the state of OTR was one and the
contact is now at differnt machine (without OTR). So you have a simple way
to tell if you should refresh or disable OTR.

I didn't get this. Could you please describe what is currently
happening and what you think should be happening instead?

Thanks,
Emil

If a contact has 2 PCs and only on one OTR this problem could occur.

One day you chat to the OTR enabled PC with OTR on, the next day you send a
message to this contact in the same chat window but it is delivered to the
other PC as he changed systems. Now he gets encrypted stuff he cannot read.
In this case Pidgin responds (i don't know from which side) „You are
sending encrypted messages to xyz who isn't expecting this.” So you know
you have to refresh the OTR session or drop encryption to talk to this
contact.

I hope to be clearer this time.

Thanks for explaining. Could you please open an issue for this? The
description here would do just fine.
