[jitsi-users] Error: Unable to create connection (ICE failed and no transponder found)

#1

To whomever may be of assistance:

I continue to receive the following error whenever I log in to Jitsi:

···

------------------------------------------------------------
Error: Unable to create connection (ICE failed and no transponder found)
------------------------------------------------------------

Not very descriptive, I know, and of course I've tried searching the web, unfortunately with no results, which is why I've resorted to having to send a message to this mailing list.

Any advice whatsoever that may help steer me in the right direction?

I would greatly appreciate it in advance.

Hello Damencho

I do not know what "jvb" is... is that equivalent to Jitsi?

Does the machine have a "public address"? Do you mean does the computer have access to the Internet? Yes, I can browse the internet just fine, use FileZilla, and other programs just fine. But I might add, just in case it would make a difference, that I normally connect to the internet through a VPN.

I have not checked that webpage that you cited (https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md#advanced-configuration). I wouldn't even know for what I should be looking?

This issue arose out of nowhere a few months ago (i.e. Jitsi was working fine before; I didn't touch the installation - same computer)... ultimately which detained me from using Jitsi. I just happened to regain interest in fixing this last week. I really want to move away from Skype.

Is this perhaps not a "known issue"? I would greatly appreciate any advice whatsoever that may help steer me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Hi again,

Sorry I was thinking you are writing that you have problem with your
jitsi-meet deployment (jvb=jitsi-videobridge).
So you have a problem with jitsi, the desktop client. So you are using
jitsi with xmpp account is the xmpp server something that you deployed
or it is some public one?
In order to make sure the connections are always possible (sometimes
p2p cannot be established) you need a relay. A really easy solution is
having jinglenodes installed on the xmpp server.
Please, when reporting problems specify the software that you use and
its version.

Hi Damencho

Sorry for the confusion. Here are the specifications:

Yes, it's the Jitsi desktop client, v 2.10.5550. As I mentioned, it was working fine before and then out of nowhere it just stopped working and started producing the aformentioned error everytime. The operating system being used is Ubuntu 16.04.

The XMPP account is from xmpp.jp, which is public, and I have no access to the server, so there's no way I could install jinglenodes.

Might anyone have an idea what could be the problem'
