[jitsi-users] Does jitsi provide sidetone?

#1

I've started using jitsi with a pair of nice full cup headphones to cut down on the office background noise. Currently I don't hear any sidetone in this arrangement and I haven't found any mention of it on the web site. I am looking for a way to turn it on or adjust the volume. Does jitsi provide sidetone?

For those that don't know what sidetone is..... It is customary in phones to route a portion of the mic input back to the ear piece so that a person talking can hear themselves. By adjusting the level that the person hears the telephone engineers can modify how loud the talker speaks. In a old analog phone sidetone level is tied to loop current, so that folks on long loops talk louder to overcome the wire loss!

I don't hear myself currently and I find it distracting, not to mention that I am probably talking too loud which adds to the amount of office hubbub.

Thanks,
John

Hey John,

Jitsi does not do this as it is most often left to devices:

Here's one great example that I highly recommend:
