[jitsi-users] Direct SIP calling?

#1

Hi,

it seems users come up here with questions related to
proper NAT and port forwarding settings again and again
quite frequently.

It certainly does not seem to be just me.

The info I gathered is here:
http://lists.jitsi.org/pipermail/users/2014-February/006542.html
Maybe someone with knowledge can improve on it an add it to
the FAQ page.

Emil and others have posted here recently some configuration lines to restrict
the ports jitsi uses. Unfortunately there is no simple port setting in the
configuration menu like in sk*pe. You could try those config lines together
with forwarding those ports, and please report back.

The current FAQ says port forwarding won't help, but I have not gotten nor found an answer
why it says so.

I would also like to know how to make a call without registering.
In answer to Nikita's question the peers should handle the NAT traversal
issues.
