[jitsi-users] direct messaging help

#1

Hello! Someone please help! I was trying to have an interview last night with a businessman in the Bahamas, and there was a large echo on my part. We tried to switch to direct messaging each other, but his end was blocked. Every time he sent a message it appeared on my screen as coding, and a message about wikipedia would pop up. So in essence, he was getting my messages, but I wasn’t receiving his.I have a macbook air. All my options under preferences were ticked. However the strangest thing occurred when we tried to check each others fingerprints to make sure there wasn’t a third party involved. When he read what he thought was my fingerprint underneath the security chat tab, he read a different fingerprint then what appeared on my screen. Please help!

You could maybe try to chat with the Duckduckgo bot, to check if you can
receive his messages:

Not "the strangest": there was a man in the middle or, (the confused way
you describe this could support this hypothesis) you weren't verifying
fingerprints the right way.

Preferences, Security, Chat: you have to choose your account, right
under that the fingerprint of your own account is shown. Each one of you
was reading and confronting this one?
You should use the built-in verification system provided by Jitsi, anyway.
