[jitsi-users] Difference between videobridge and Turn server

#1

Hello all,

This question may seem obvious, but not for me right now. What's the difference between jitsis's videobridge and Turn server?

I mean, Turn is a relay server used when NAT hole punching fails using STUN. For multiparty videoconferences (more than 2 users) it can be used as the relay server to avoid peer to peer connections (heavy to maintain when more than 4 users are involved). I know that TURN does not have transcoding, mixing... capabilities, but I just need to use it to allow sessions with several users. I have the signaling already solved with libraries like EasyRTC.

For this use case, what's the difference (or advantage) of using jitsis's videobridge or just the Turn server?

Best,
Javier
