[jitsi-users] Contact details aggregation

#1

Hello,
I'm testing Jitsi and I managed to successfully integrate my LDAP
address book.
Now I have a question: when I look up a contact I can see all of her
configured details (telephoneNumber and mobileNumber in my case), and
now I'd like to add the contact to my contacts. The only option I have
is to add the individual detail, ending up with a single contact per
phone number per person.. is there a way to add a contact with multiple
details?

Thanks,
Giacomo

Not in one operation, as Jitsi's own contacts only have one address. But you can combine multiple contacts into a meta-contact: just drag one contact on top of another.

Thank you Ingo for your prompt answer.
Indeed dragging the contacts one on top of each other works!
Since I have email and two versions of fixed and mobile number each,
this makes up to 5 contacts per person to be merged.. it gets a bit
cumbersome to do for each contact. Do you think it is worth a GH issue,
or the nature of Jitsi contact management would make the implementation
difficult?

Cheers,
Giacomo

Well, the idea is that Jitsi's contact list is more like an area for favorites or online contacts provided directly by a server (e.g. XMPP) and external address books (LDAP, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.) provide contacts stored somewhere else on the fly.

Please don't. There's nobody who could look at it (and it's the first time this request came up).

I get the point, also I have to say that the LDAP real-time look-up
works very well so it makes sense.

OK.

Thanks again for your support.
