[jitsi-users] Connection timeout from videobridge/configuration problem

#1

Hi folks

First of all, an apology, I haven't a lot of experience with ejabberd and
this may be part of the problem:

1. I've set up an ejabberd instance on AWS, got in working in that gajim
connects to it as yyyy.com etc.

2. I've got the following in ejabberd.yml config file, as the notes on the
jitsi website, I believe:

   port: 5275
    module: ejabberd_service
    hosts:
     - "yyyy.com":
        password: "xxxx"
     - "jitsi-videobridge.yyyy.com":
        password: "xxxx"

3. Then going to the unzipped videobridge directory:

        ./jvb.sh --domain=yyyy.com --secret=xxxx

4. This gives:

JVB 2016-12-26 10:50:50.592 INFO: [1]
org.jitsi.impl.configuration.ConfigurationServiceImpl.log()
net.java.sip.communicator.SC_HOME_DIR_LOCATION=/home/ubuntu
JVB 2016-12-26 10:50:52.606 SEVERE: [19]
org.jitsi.meet.ComponentMain.call().278
java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out, host:yyyy.com, port:5275

Nothing in the logs on the ejabberd side and looking at jvb.sh, I believe I
can't enable logging from the zipped package?

Best regards Hugh

        password: "xxxx"

3. Then going to the unzipped videobridge directory:

        ./jvb.sh --domain=yyyy.com <http://yyyy.com> --secret=xxxx

4. This gives:

JVB 2016-12-26 10:50:50.592 INFO: [1]

JVB 2016-12-26 10:50:52.606 SEVERE: [19]
org.jitsi.meet.ComponentMain.call().278 java.net
<http://java.net>.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out,
host:yyyy.com <http://yyyy.com>, port:5275

Make sure that ejabberd is listening on that port. It may be listening on 5275 only on certain interfaces which don't match the "yyyy.com". In that case add --host=127.0.0.1 (or whatever address ejabberd is really using) to the jvb.sh arguments.

Nothing in the logs on the ejabberd side and looking at jvb.sh, I
believe I can't enable logging from the zipped package?

Logging is enabled, what you pasted above is part of the logs. You can change its parameters through the lib/logging.properties file.

Regards,
Boris
