[jitsi-users] Conference architecture

#1

Hi,

In jitsi videobridge. Is there a hidden participant representing the focus
user which has media streams on loopback. Or is there no actual media
channel for the focus user?

Secondly, in the legacy (mp3) recording feature: is that facilitated via a
recorded media channel? Or is it more of a programatic thing?

Thanks,
RD

Hi Raoul,

No, there is no hidden participant in the jitsi-videobridge's view of a conference. The bridge does not participate in the MUC, and it's only signaling comes directly from the focus, so there is no need to hide a participant.

Secondly, in the legacy (mp3) recording feature: is that facilitated via a recorded media channel? Or is it more of a programatic thing?

The bridge works with the concept of a "content", which is a collection of "channels". Packets from one channel in a content are forwarded to other channels in the content.

In the legacy mode in which jitsi-videobridge itself records an mp3 file, the recording happens on the content level (and there is no extra channel).

In the other legacy mode (using jirecon), there is an additional participant in the conference, which has its own channels.

I hope that helps,
Boris
