[jitsi-users] Can Jitsi use / set asterisk presence / dnd state

#1

Hi,

I tried Jitsi as asterisk sip client and it's really nice.
But can Jitsi set / use asterisk presence state (available, busy, dnd)?
My snom phone set the dnd state remote at the asterisk server. Jitsi seems
to use a local dnd state?

Regards

#2

I did a *76 from my Jitsi phone connected to my Asterisk system and
Asterisk (Allison Smith) told me that DND was activated/inactivated as
appropriate and when deactivated, I got a busy signal from my digium d40
when I called the Jitsi extension?

You used the feature code, but it seems not work with the Jitsi dnd button?

That's true, if you do *76, it will toggle DND in Asterisk, but if you
click on the DND button under Set Status/Asterisk/DND it doesn't work, I
can still call my Jitsi extension from another extension even though DND
is set.

To replace my Snom I need that feature, but I don't like to call the code

So no chance to configure it? Or is it a planed feature?

Hey folks,

I have no idea if Asterisk allows for a way other than DTMF to do this.
Apparently presence does not work so not sure what to tell you.

The problem isn't how Asterisk handles that, but rather that Jitsi can't
handle it the way Asterisk do.
So if softphones can't handle that feature I have to stay with my Snom
phone.

Hi,

maybe you are searching for the following configuration:
This one global for all accounts:
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.protocol.ACCOUNT_PROPERTY_REJECT_IN_CALL_ON_DND=true

Or the per account property:
ACCOUNT_PROPERTY_REJECT_IN_CALL_ON_DND = "RejectIncomingCallsWhenDnD";

There is no UI option for setting this, but you can shutdown jitsi and
add it the config properties file, or add it to your provisioning
props if you have such or set it through the properties editor.

I know that setting, but asterisk user presence is still available. So
internal the user should be available, but calls will be rejected by Jitsi.

Hi,

Well you can enable SIP presence, and when you click DND Jitsi will
send publish message with its status, but not sure asterisk will
handle this, maybe newer versions that use pjsip can handle it,
haven't tested it myself. I suspect that this feature *76 is asterisk
specific and there is no protocol specification for it, so it needs
some custom work/custom plugin which is not currently available.
