[jitsi-users] Call and videocall function does not work?

#1

Hi,

I use Jitsi 1.0 under Magaia 2 Linux (once Mandriva) and Windows 7. Both are
64 bit systems.

Now I have create an new MSN/Live Messanger and Google Talk (Google+) account.
The text chat works very well but the call and video call has no function. All
this functions are grey pictured. (see attached screenshot)

Has someone an idea about this problem? My camera works fine with Jipsi, cheese
and other programs. Maybe it is a authority problem. The Problem exists under
Linux and Windows. Thanks in advance.

Regards
Markus

It's a good idea to use the latest nightly build -
https://jitsi.org/index.php/Main/Download

Now I have create an new MSN/Live Messanger and Google Talk (Google+) account.

You seem to be offline. These functions are not available then.

Make sure you are online, and that the service you are using
(MSN/Google) supports the feature you would like to use. According to
https://jitsi.org/index.php/Main/Features MSN is not fully supported
for voice/video calls.

So let's focus on using your Google account. When you're online can
you not initiate voice/video calls to your Google contacts?

See https://jitsi.org/index.php/Documentation/UserDocumentation for
videos of how it's supposed to work.

Cheers

Hey Markus,

We do not support any kind of calls with MSN (Windows Live).

We do have them with GTalk (XMPP) but the remote party needs to also
support the feature.

Hope this helps.

By this time I have installed the latest nightly build.

$ jitsi -v
Jitsi 1.1-nightly.4216

The problem persists even with this version.

I have the problem even when I'm online :frowning:

Ah you're right, MSN is still under construction. Thank you

No, absolutely not. I've just tested with a Google account. Everythig is grey
pictured.

See https://jitsi.org/index.php/Documentation/UserDocumentation for

The video I saw first. There everything works right out of the box. So I am
looking really help :slight_smile:

Hey Markus,

Hi Emil,

thanks for your feedback. I use Jitsi under linux and my wife under windows.
We both have a google account (gmail) and additionally google +. If we work
over Jitzi with the google account we have no call/video functions. For
disposal, see screenshot at the opening mail.

I see the following:

19:56:35.074 SEVERE:
impl.protocol.jabber.InfoRetreiver.retrieveDetails().293 Cannot load
details for contact talk.google.com : remote-server-not-found(404)
19:56:35.126 SEVERE:
impl.protocol.jabber.InfoRetreiver.retrieveDetails().293 Cannot load
details for contact talk.google.com : remote-server-not-found(404)

Did you remove the user name from the log file or did you just not enter
it when adding the contact?

Either way, it seems that there might be something wrong with the way
you added your contact. Does it appear online? With XMPP you both need
to be online for a call to be allowed.
