[jitsi-users] Audio device issues

#1

Hi
The issue detected has the following scenario:
USB Headsets
Jitsi configured with Portaudio
Jitsi configured with 'USB device' selected (with primary sound device we have issues - choppy sound)
Long duration calls. The users can have calls of 5 or 7 hours.
Windows XP SP3
version 1.0.0

The sympton is that the user lost the sound of the speaker on a call. The microphone still works correctly and the called can hear the user.

We could not find a common event for the sympton, no special CPU use, audio events, user action or specific time. Sometimes occurs 10 minutes of the begin of the call and sometimes 3 hours later.

This is an example of the log generated by the issue:

We suspect that is related with the portaudio part. If we reconnect the USB headset the sounds works fine again.

Do you have any suggestion?

Thanks and regards

Hey there,

There doesn't seem to be anything suspicious in the logs fragment you've
sent. Could it be a device issue? Have you noticed anything in the linux
log utilities? Do you have the same problem with other computers/devices?

Hi Emil

Sorry to be slow to respond, problems with my email.

We are using a self compiled version, based on build 3967, because we need the hostname of the machine to use the autoprovisioning, among other things. Our enviroment are WindowsXP SP3 and Windows 7 clients mainly.

We have detected that this sound issues only affects to our self build and not to the original binary.

Our changes on the source were not related to the audio part, and the issue is quite similar to the other post of "Microphone cutting out during call, OS-X"

On the compilation don't appears errors, only warnings about deprecated functions and a error generating the .exe (we are usign the .msi). We are using the JDK 1.6_update31 and the JRE embebbed is the same version.

What should we check? any suggestion?

Thanks in advance,
  Iago
