[jitsi-users] Attended Call Transfer

How do I perform an ATTENDED call transfer? There are numerous posts on the
Internet suggesting that the process is as follows:

1. Establish a first call.
2. Establish a second call. The first call is automatically placed on hold.
3. The transfer button now shows to transfer to the existing call.

The problem that I am experiencing occurs in Step 3. When I click on the
Transfer button to transfer the first call to the second call, jitsi says the
first call fails, and it is never transferred to the second call. If I do a
BLIND transfer, everything works perfectly. Am I doing something wrong? My VOIP
provider is sip.voipwelcome.com. Both calls are telephone calls.

Thanks!

My guess is that this is not supported by your provider. Attended
transfers are not possible over the PSTN unless your provider routes the
call and I doubt it would do that since it won't be able to bill anyone.

A look in the logs should help confirm this.

Emil:

Sorry, I intended to reply to the list.

Which log file do you want to see? The logs folder has quite a few files. Also,
does the log file have personal information in it? I'm happy to send it to you
privately if it does, but I would not want to send it to the list.

Hey MCG,

Could you please reply to the list? Also note that I only made a
suggestion. We'd still need to have a look at the logs in order to
confirm exactly what is going on.

Having a look at a successful blind transfer would also be interesting.
I have trouble seeing how a blind transfer from a PSTN phone to a PSTN
phone would work for a conventional hosted voip provider (from a
business perspective).

Hi, Emil:

Thanks for the response. You are probably correct that I am trying to do
something that my provider doesn't allow, even though it allows blind transfers
and conference calls. Are attended transfers are only between SIP callers, or
would I have to have a second SIP number to accomplish what I'm trying to do?

Can you suggest a provider in the US that is well versed in the process? Since
jitsi (and other clients) provide attended transfers, there must be some way to
perform them.
