[jitsi-users] Android Jitsi - Can't view contact's details

#1

With the Android version of Jitsi, I can't find any way to view a
contact's details, so all I can see is the Alias I've given it (or
maybe it was automatically set from the server) and no way to view the
actual address (i.e. example@ch3kr.net) that it's associated with.
Long-press just gives me "Remove contact".

On Windows Jitsi, we've got right-click on a contact but in fact that
doesn't appear to offer a way to view this information, as if I rename
a contact from example@ch3kr.net to example, then this is all that's
displayed on right-click Contact Info and even under Security - Chat,
where it shows the fingerprints.

We'll add it to our todo list, but I'm not sure when it can be done.
Contributions are welcome

That's great ! You can start by looking at Jitsi source how it was
implemented for the desktop and if you have any questions just post
them here.

I just tested the latest Windows nightly and see that it now shows the
actual address when hovering over a contact, regardless of what I
rename it to, so that 's great.

Right-clicking and going to contact info only shows the nickname
though. The pop-up might be enough but maybe it would be useful
sometimes to have the address displayed on a screen from where it can
be copied/pasted? Not that the contact info screen appears to support
that functionality at the moment but it's something to consider.

Thanks Sandeep for offering to work on the Android version. Much appreciated.

Derek
