[jitsi-users] Android app?

#1

Hello to all,
This is my first post on this list, maybe it's not the good one for the
question I will as, please forgive me in advance...

We are a worldwide NGO focussed on preservation of Human Rights
througout the world. In this respect, we use quite often
visio-conference tools, up to now private and closed systems (such as
AVAYA).

I have in mind to substitute the current systems we use, with an hosted
meet.git.si solution. As a NGO we really trust open source solutions,
and the OS we use internally are UBUNTU (personal computers) and Android
(smartphone and tablets).

My question is : how can we help in developping a secure app, which
could allow any of our contacts using Android, to join meet.jit.si
meetings ? Of course such an app should be downloaded from secure
repositories such as fDroid.

Many thanks in advance for your answers,
Hope to reding from you very soon.

Cheers,
Cyril

Hi Cyril

I was 8 aid worker during my last 8 years and I implemented there jitsi meet with success, even using the platform for Telemedicine in countries like Niger. So you are doing well.

On the other hand, there is already an android apk that works pretty well even if you are using your own jitsi meet server. In order to upload it in Fdroid I guess that should be through the developers to accept to upload that apk to Fdroid or creating by yourself a customized apk for the purpose that you want.

Cheers

Hi Cyril,

I’m glad to hear about how you plan on using Jitsi Meet

You currently you have 2 choices: you can download Jitsi Meet from the Google Play Store, or you can build an app yourself following our documentation here: https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/mobile.md

We might add Jitsi Meet to F-Droid in the future, but it’s not there yet.

Cheers,
