[jitsi-users] 884 Error connecting, TLS is required by client

#1

Hello,

I have a friend in Portugal who recently suggested we try out Jitsi. We both
installed the program and created XMPP accounts on jit.si. While I can
connect just fine, they cannot and their log shows the following:

00:36:34.318 SEVERE: [113]
impl.protocol.jabber.ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.connectUsingSRVRecords().884
Error connecting to swing.bluejimp.com./130.79.91.169:5222 for domain:jit.si
serviceName:jit.si

TLS is required by client:

at
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.protocol.jabber.ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.connectAndLogin(ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.java:1186)
at
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.protocol.jabber.ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.connectAndLogin(ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.java:939)
at
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.protocol.jabber.ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.connectUsingSRVRecords(ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.java:878)
at
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.protocol.jabber.ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.initializeConnectAndLogin(ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.java:671)
at
net.java.sip.communicator.impl.protocol.jabber.ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.register(ProtocolProviderServiceJabberImpl.java:475)
at
net.java.sip.communicator.util.account.LoginManager$RegisterProvider.run(LoginManager.java:431)

They have tried Jitsi stable build 2.2 and nightly build jitsi-2.3.4921-x86.
They are running on windows Vista 32 bit.

I've tried lots of Googling but am unable to find anything relating to this
issue or why they apparently have no TLS. Any help would be greatly
appreciated

Jack

Hey Jack,

This looks weird because the server does have TLS so I'd suspsect some sort
of connectivity issues.

Is your friend able to connect with other cliemts?

Hello Emil, thanks for replying so promptly!

They haven’t tried using any other client (I must admit that is probably one of the few things we haven’t tried) I’ll get them to give Pidgin a go and report back how things went. Hopefully we should have an answer in a couple of hours.
Just for the record, we did try Jitsi with their firewall (Kaspersky internet security) disabled but it made no difference.

Thank you
