Jitsi not working on Mac Catalina

I have a Mac running the Catalina OS. When I join a jitsi meeting via the Chrome browser, others in the meeting can see and hear me, but I cannot see or hear them. I tried joining the meeting using Safari, and the opposite happened. I could see and hear them, but they could not see or hear me. Camera and phone are enabled for jitsi on both browsers.

Any idea what might be going wrong?

Thanks,

Dave

FWIW, I also tried the Firefox browser, which did not work at all. Finally I downloaded the Brave browser and it seems to work fine. It doesn’t make sense to me why one browser would work and 3 other, more popular, ones would not.

Are you joining meetings on https://meet.jit.si?

Something else is going on here. The OS should not really matter. Catalina is not that old. The main thing to update is the browsers you are using.

I know that Safari, Firefox and Chrome work on macOS because I tested those yesterday. But they were up to date.

Yes, I am joining on https://meet.jit.si. I am running the latest version of Chrome – Version 84.0.4147.125 (Official Build) (64-bit) – and version 13.1.2 (15609.3.5.1.3) of Safari. I downloaded Firefox today, so that should be the latest version also.

Interesting. Just curious, have you been able to try from a different network?

No. I have a desktop Mac, so I cannot move it around. However, my wife seems to have no problems on her MacBook using Safari, and she is on the same network. She is not running Catalina yet, though.
