Jitsi Meet Wordpress

#1

Hi,

I’m not a developer but am a startup hoping to provide video coaching and consulting over my website. I don’t need to build my own server or anything, just wondering if it’s at all possible to embed jitsi using the API . I tried to follow this - https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/api.md , but am not having any success.

Is this possible? To set up a simple wordpress integration?

Thanks for any advice on this topic !
Iain

Hi there,

That should work. What problems did you run into? The JS console errors would help us help you.

I tried to copy over the html code from the api github resource but it presented itself as code on the site. I’m just completely coding illiterate . Do i need to install the jitsi meet api library?

I just put it into a html text box on one of my wordpress pages.

Is there a basic html or javascript code i can copy and paste?

Are you using the basic page editor for wordpress? I’m not familiar with wordpress, but looking around it a bit looks like you need to install a custom plugin to load scripts. You need to be able to have this or something similar actually execute to load the javascript: <script src="https://meet.jit.si/external_api.js"></script>. After that you need to find in wordpress a place where you can actually execute javascript:

            var domain = "meet.jit.si";
            var options = {
                roomName: "JitsiMeetAPIExample",
                width: 700,
                height: 180,
                parentNode: undefined,
                configOverwrite: {},
                interfaceConfigOverwrite: {
                    filmStripOnly: true
                }
            }
            var api = new JitsiMeetExternalAPI(domain, options);
        </script>

I recommend reading up how you can integrate javascript into your wordpress site.
