[jitsi-dev] XMPP accounts and contacts

#1

I use several XMPP accounts.

It currently seems not to be possible to assign one contact to more than
one account. Can/will this be changed?

How can I find out to which account a contact belongs?

Deleting contacts is problematic. I often have seen the situation that
such contacts neither disappear nor do I see anything relevant in the log.

Cheers,
Andreas

Probably not in the near future. Currently you can achieve this by
adding your contacts separately and then merging them in a single meta
contact.

How can I find out to which account a contact belongs?

Hover above it then check the icon that appears in the tooltip. It
identifies the protocol and in case you have several accounts of that
protocol it should also come with an index that would help you determine
which one the contact is coming from.

Deleting contacts is problematic. I often have seen the situation that
such contacts neither disappear nor do I see anything relevant in the log.

Can you describe a scenario that allows to reliably reproduce this?

No. It seems to be connected with other problems for which Jitsi is not
responsible, for example when jabber.org is offline.

The problem occurs when a contact is added which has not yet been
authenticized.

Here are steps to reproduce the problem:

1. Add a bot such as jimmy@bot.nimbuzz.com as a contact to one of your
XMPP accounts (not an account at nimbuzz.com).
2. The contact is shown in the list as offline
3. Try to delete that contact

#5

In fact you can use any non existing contact such as "abc@def.ghi".

Andreas
