[jitsi-dev] XEP-0055

#1

Would it be feasible to implement XEP-0055, the ability to search for users/add them from the user directory?

This would be a very nice feature to have when considering rolling out Jitsi to an entire company staff.

Hey Aaron,

Would it be feasible to implement XEP-0055, the ability to search for
users/add them from the user directory?

We were thinking about this yes. We haven't got around it and can't give you an ETA (as far as BlueJimp is concerned this would mostly depend on customer interest) but I expect it would happen one day.

This would be a very nice feature to have when considering rolling out
Jitsi to an entire company staff.

Most enterprise users are also happy with LDAP which we already support.

Thank you for the response, Emil.

What about an LDAP filter as discussed here: https://java.net/projects/jitsi/lists/dev/archive/2011-11/message/37

Our LDAP Structure is organized in a way that specifying a single OU will pull in Contacts and Computer items. I love the LDAP function but would like to see ability to further filter the results using something like...

(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user))
--> would only return users

(&(objectCategory=person)(objectClass=user)(memberOf=CN=SparkUsers,OU=Groups,DC=example,DC=com))
--> would only return users that are members of the "OpenfireUsers" group.

For LDAP sync with Openfire, we use do this which works very well. Thank you for your time!
