[jitsi-dev] WG: problems with video

#1

Hello,

Jitsi receives no video in a video telephony connection to the
DFNVideoConference service. Here you can see the device list of
DFNVideoConference service
https://www.vc.dfn.de/en/video-conferencing/technical-details/hard-and-softw
are.html.

- software version:

  Jitsi client: 2.8 Build 5426 for Windows7

  Cisco TelePresence MCU 4520: 4.5(1.72)

- Video telephony without logging on a SIP - registrar

- Dialing into the Conference with: <sip:9791@vc.dfn.de> sip:9791@vc.dfn.de

- Connection parameters DFNVideoConference service:

  Rx: VGA, H.264, 4.00M, G.722

  Tx: <no video>, G.722

Can you help me solve the problem? You can test it yourself with:

The problem here is NAT: Jitsi sends the INVITE to your VCS over UDP, but is
unable to get any response back. That's why we never really supported the
registrarless connections.

Is the service also reachable via TCP? That would at least solve the problem
for the INVITE response, but wouldn't let media pass yet. AFAIK Jitsi would
need to support ICE in SIP so this would work too.

Hi Ingo,

but is unable to get any response back. That's why we never really
supported the registrarless connections.

1.We don't use NAT.

Even not on your computer? No Firewall or anything? I don't have a public IP address available anywhere without NAT to do a test.

2.When I logged on to the OpenSIPS (only SIP
Registrar), jitsi receive no video in a video telephony connection to
the DFNVideoConference service.

Not sure what happens in this case. I'd need to look at Jitsi's logs.

3. I logged on to the OpenSIPS. The SIP
Registrar allows only TCP. The external device Cisco EX90 makes a SIP
call to Jitsi. Jitsi receive no video ...

Again, I'd need to see the logs.

- My computer has a public IP address. All Firewall ports are open for our IP

Sorry, your message was stuck in the moderation queue because it got too big with the two log sets.

1.We don't use NAT.

Even not on your computer? No Firewall or anything? I don't have a public IP
address available anywhere without NAT to do a test.

- My computer has a public IP address. All Firewall ports are open for

Ok.

2.When I logged on to the OpenSIPS (only SIP Registrar), jitsi receive
no video in a video telephony connection to the DFNVideoConference
service.

Not sure what happens in this case. I'd need to look at Jitsi's logs.

I saw multiple crashes in the video decoder, likely related to the x264 format that has been offered. Have you tried using the nightlies instead of 2.8? However, I'm not sure it's fixed there.

- You can find the Jitsi's logs in the attachment .

3. I logged on to the OpenSIPS. The SIP Registrar allows only TCP. The
external device Cisco EX90 makes a SIP call to Jitsi. Jitsi receive no
video ...

Again, I'd need to see the logs.

In this case, the Cisco and/or Tandberg device sends an m=application media type in the INVITE message. This is perfectly legal, however Jitsi doesn't understand it and can't process the call. I'll see what I can do about that.
