[jitsi-dev] Website unreachable as soon as I changed the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties public/private IP configuration

Hi Devs,

Website unreachable as soon as I changed the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties public/private IP configuration…

With a fresh installation following the quick installation guide, the p2p working fine, as it’s hosted at google cloud with NAT (check below), I changed the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties file as below:

org.jitsi.videobridge.AUTHORIZED_SOURCE_REGEXP=focus@auth.meeting.jototech.cn/.*
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.host=::
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.port=443
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ProxyServlet.hostHeader=meeting.jototech.cn
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ProxyServlet.pathSpec=/http-bind
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ProxyServlet.proxyTo=http://localhost:5280/http-bind
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.resourceBase=/usr/share/jitsi-meet
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.alias./config.js=/etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn-config.js
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.alias./interface_config.js=/usr/share/jitsi-meet/interface_config.js
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.alias./logging_config.js=/usr/share/jitsi-meet/logging_config.js
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.RewriteHandler.regex=^/([a-zA-Z0-9]+)$
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.RewriteHandler.replacement=/
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.SSIResourceHandler.paths=/
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.tls.port=443
org.jitsi.videobridge.TCP_HARVESTER_PORT=443
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.sslContextFactory.keyStorePath=/etc/jitsi/videobridge/meeting.jototech.cn.jks
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.sslContextFactory.keyStorePassword=changeit
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=10.140.0.2
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=35.194.248.76

However as soon as I changed it and reboot the server, the website is unreachable. Then I found a error under jicofo log:

Jicofo 2018-02-23 06:29:13.549 SEVERE: [25] org.jitsi.impl.protocol.xmpp.XmppProtocolProvider.log() Failed to connect/login: host-unknown You can read more about the meaning of this stream error at http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#streams-error-conditions

And follow the resolution by:

update-ca-certificates -f
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart

Still no lucky, anything else can I do?

Have a lovely day!

Hi,

So restarting jvb and jicofo logs host-unknow has nothing to do with each
other. So if you are using jetty to serve the web this should be ok if you
restart jvb. If this is not working, I mean the page is not accessible you
need to check the logs.
In the documentation is written to use the following properties:

org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=<Local.IP.Address>
org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=<Public.IP.Address>

https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md#advanced-configuration
Where did you read about org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS?
Asking if we had forgotten to update some doc, to fix it.

If you have some jvb exceptions that is the problem, if not maybe you can
send the jvb log after restarting it to take a look.

The host-unknown thing in jicofo, this means that jicofo tries to connect
to prosody using domain A and prosody replies with hey I don't know
anything about this host. So you need to check what is in
/etc/jitsi/jicofo/config and what is configured in prosody, there are
couple of domains, but most probably this is the auth.... domain.

Hi Damencho,

Sorry, for the NAT thing, I read the wrong article at https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/blob/master/doc/tcp.md.

However I still not able to bring up the server, I just did a fresh installation and reboot the server, it’s working fine, however as soon as I make below configure at /etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn-config.js to change the Chrome configuration as below, then reboot the server, the web site is unreachable, you can try: https://meeting.jototech.cn <https://meeting.jototech.cn/>

desktopSharingChromeExtId: 'ifpkgpdbhhjgjbilnmkggblcagclhjgm',
desktopSharingChromeDisabled: false,

I tried to restart the service with below command, no luck.

sudo /etc/init.d/prosody restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jitsi-videobridge restart

Attached is the log file, thanks for helping!

Hi Damencho,

Sorry, for the NAT thing, I read the wrong article at
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/blob/master/doc/tcp.md.

However I still not able to bring up the server, I just did a fresh
installation and reboot the server, it’s working fine, however as soon as I
make below configure at /etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn-config.js to
change the Chrome configuration as below, then reboot the server, the web
site is unreachable, you can try: https://meeting.jototech.cn

desktopSharingChromeExtId: 'ifpkgpdbhhjgjbilnmkggblcagclhjgm',
desktopSharingChromeDisabled: false,

I tried to restart the service with below command, no luck.

sudo /etc/init.d/prosody restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jitsi-videobridge restart

Attached is the log file, thanks for helping!

Hi,

So restarting jvb and jicofo logs host-unknow has nothing to do with each
other. So if you are using jetty to serve the web this should be ok if you
restart jvb. If this is not working, I mean the page is not accessible you
need to check the logs.
In the documentation is written to use the following properties:

org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=<Local.IP.Address>
org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=<Public.IP.Address>

https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md#advanced-configuration

The host-unknown thing in jicofo, this means that jicofo tries to connect to
prosody using domain A and prosody replies with hey I don't know anything
about this host. So you need to check what is in /etc/jitsi/jicofo/config
and what is configured in prosody, there are couple of domains, but most
probably this is the auth.... domain.

Hi Devs,

With a fresh installation following the quick installation guide, the p2p
working fine, as it’s hosted at google cloud with NAT (check below), I
changed the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties file as
below:

<PastedGraphic-1.png>

org.jitsi.videobridge.AUTHORIZED_SOURCE_REGEXP=focus@auth.meeting.jototech.cn/.*
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.host=::
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.port=443

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ProxyServlet.pathSpec=/http-bind

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ProxyServlet.proxyTo=http://localhost:5280/http-bind

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.resourceBase=/usr/share/jitsi-meet

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.alias./config.js=/etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn-config.js

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.alias./interface_config.js=/usr/share/jitsi-meet/interface_config.js

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.ResourceHandler.alias./logging_config.js=/usr/share/jitsi-meet/logging_config.js
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.RewriteHandler.regex=^/([a-zA-Z0-9]+)$
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.RewriteHandler.replacement=/
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.SSIResourceHandler.paths=/
org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.tls.port=443
org.jitsi.videobridge.TCP_HARVESTER_PORT=443

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.sslContextFactory.keyStorePath=/etc/jitsi/videobridge/meeting.jototech.cn.jks

org.jitsi.videobridge.rest.jetty.sslContextFactory.keyStorePassword=changeit
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=10.140.0.2
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=35.194.248.76

However as soon as I changed it and reboot the server, the website is
unreachable. Then I found a error under jicofo log:

Jicofo 2018-02-23 06:29:13.549 SEVERE: [25]
org.jitsi.impl.protocol.xmpp.XmppProtocolProvider.log() Failed to
connect/login: host-unknown You can read more about the meaning of this
stream error at http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#streams-error-conditions

And follow the resolution by:

update-ca-certificates -f
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart

Still no lucky, anything else can I do?

Have a lovely day!

That's the correct document and it mentions that the org.jitsi properties are deprecated. I've updated it to avoid confusion in the future.

Hi,

I think that when you are editing jvb config file you some how break it or
change its permissions and jvb cannot start for some reason. Can you check
the files in /etc/jitsi/videobridge who is the owner and the file
permissions there.

Is jvb running?

Hi Damencho,

Sorry, for the NAT thing, I read the wrong article at
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/blob/master/doc/tcp.md.

However I still not able to bring up the server, I just did a fresh
installation and reboot the server, it’s working fine, however as soon as I
make below configure at /etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn-config.js to
change the Chrome configuration as below, then reboot the server, the web
site is unreachable, you can try: https://meeting.jototech.cn

desktopSharingChromeExtId: 'ifpkgpdbhhjgjbilnmkggblcagclhjgm',
desktopSharingChromeDisabled: false,

I tried to restart the service with below command, no luck.

sudo /etc/init.d/prosody restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jitsi-videobridge restart

Attached is the log file, thanks for helping!

Hi,

So restarting jvb and jicofo logs host-unknow has nothing to do with each
other. So if you are using jetty to serve the web this should be ok if you
restart jvb. If this is not working, I mean the page is not accessible you
need to check the logs.
In the documentation is written to use the following properties:

org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=<Local.IP.Address>
org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=<Public.IP.Address>

https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/
quick-install.md#advanced-configuration
Where did you read about org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_
HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS?
Asking if we had forgotten to update some doc, to fix it.

If you have some jvb exceptions that is the problem, if not maybe you can
send the jvb log after restarting it to take a look.

The host-unknown thing in jicofo, this means that jicofo tries to connect
to
prosody using domain A and prosody replies with hey I don't know anything
about this host. So you need to check what is in /etc/jitsi/jicofo/config
and what is configured in prosody, there are couple of domains, but most
probably this is the auth.... domain.

With a fresh installation following the quick installation guide, the p2p
working fine, as it’s hosted at google cloud with NAT (check below), I
changed the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties file as
below:

org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=10.140.0.2
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=35.194.248.76

However as soon as I changed it and reboot the server, the website is
unreachable. Then I found a error under jicofo log:

Jicofo 2018-02-23 06:29:13.549 SEVERE: [25]
org.jitsi.impl.protocol.xmpp.XmppProtocolProvider.log() Failed to
connect/login: host-unknown You can read more about the meaning of this
stream error at http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#streams-error-conditions

And follow the resolution by:

update-ca-certificates -f
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart

Still no lucky, anything else can I do?

Have a lovely day!

Hi,

If you do

Is jvb running?

Hi Damencho,

Sorry, for the NAT thing, I read the wrong article at
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/blob/master/doc/tcp.md.

However I still not able to bring up the server, I just did a fresh
installation and reboot the server, it’s working fine, however as soon as I
make below configure at /etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn <http://meeting.jototech.cn/>-config.js to
change the Chrome configuration as below, then reboot the server, the web
site is unreachable, you can try: https://meeting.jototech.cn <https://meeting.jototech.cn/>

desktopSharingChromeExtId: 'ifpkgpdbhhjgjbilnmkggblcagclhjgm',
desktopSharingChromeDisabled: false,

I tried to restart the service with below command, no luck.

sudo /etc/init.d/prosody restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jitsi-videobridge restart

Attached is the log file, thanks for helping!

Hi,

So restarting jvb and jicofo logs host-unknow has nothing to do with each
other. So if you are using jetty to serve the web this should be ok if you
restart jvb. If this is not working, I mean the page is not accessible you
need to check the logs.
In the documentation is written to use the following properties:

org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=<Local.IP.Address>
org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=<Public.IP.Address>

https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md#advanced-configuration

The host-unknown thing in jicofo, this means that jicofo tries to connect to
prosody using domain A and prosody replies with hey I don't know anything
about this host. So you need to check what is in /etc/jitsi/jicofo/config
and what is configured in prosody, there are couple of domains, but most
probably this is the auth.... domain.

With a fresh installation following the quick installation guide, the p2p
working fine, as it’s hosted at google cloud with NAT (check below), I
changed the /etc/jitsi/videobridge/sip-communicator.properties file as
below:

org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=10.140.0.2
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=35.194.248.76

However as soon as I changed it and reboot the server, the website is
unreachable. Then I found a error under jicofo log:

stream error at http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#streams-error-conditions

And follow the resolution by:

update-ca-certificates -f
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart

Still no lucky, anything else can I do?

Have a lovely day!

Are you installing the debian packages and running those? This will
not work for them.
What I see on my deployment in /etc/jitsi:

Everything should be jvb:jitsi as this is the user and the group that
jvb is using when running. Not sure how you ended up with these, but
this can be a problem.

Hi,

I think that when you are editing jvb config file you some how break it or
change its permissions and jvb cannot start for some reason. Can you check
the files in /etc/jitsi/videobridge who is the owner and the file
permissions there.

Hi Damencho,

Sorry, for the NAT thing, I read the wrong article at
https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-videobridge/blob/master/doc/tcp.md.

However I still not able to bring up the server, I just did a fresh
installation and reboot the server, it’s working fine, however as soon as
I
make below configure at /etc/jitsi/meet/meeting.jototech.cn-config.js to
change the Chrome configuration as below, then reboot the server, the web
site is unreachable, you can try: https://meeting.jototech.cn

desktopSharingChromeExtId: 'ifpkgpdbhhjgjbilnmkggblcagclhjgm',
desktopSharingChromeDisabled: false,

I tried to restart the service with below command, no luck.

sudo /etc/init.d/prosody restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart
sudo /etc/init.d/jitsi-videobridge restart

Attached is the log file, thanks for helping!

Hi,

So restarting jvb and jicofo logs host-unknow has nothing to do with each
other. So if you are using jetty to serve the web this should be ok if you
restart jvb. If this is not working, I mean the page is not accessible you
need to check the logs.
In the documentation is written to use the following properties:

org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS=<Local.IP.Address>
org.ice4j.ice.harvest.NAT_HARVESTER_PUBLIC_ADDRESS=<Public.IP.Address>

https://github.com/jitsi/jitsi-meet/blob/master/doc/quick-install.md#advanced-configuration
Where did you read about
org.jitsi.videobridge.NAT_HARVESTER_LOCAL_ADDRESS?
Asking if we had forgotten to update some doc, to fix it.

If you have some jvb exceptions that is the problem, if not maybe you can
send the jvb log after restarting it to take a look.

The host-unknown thing in jicofo, this means that jicofo tries to connect
to
prosody using domain A and prosody replies with hey I don't know anything
about this host. So you need to check what is in /etc/jitsi/jicofo/config
and what is configured in prosody, there are couple of domains, but most
probably this is the auth.... domain.

However as soon as I changed it and reboot the server, the website is
unreachable. Then I found a error under jicofo log:

Jicofo 2018-02-23 06:29:13.549 SEVERE: [25]
org.jitsi.impl.protocol.xmpp.XmppProtocolProvider.log() Failed to
connect/login: host-unknown You can read more about the meaning of this
stream error at http://xmpp.org/rfcs/rfc6120.html#streams-error-conditions

And follow the resolution by:

update-ca-certificates -f
sudo /etc/init.d/jicofo restart

Still no lucky, anything else can I do?

Have a lovely day!
Tommy Xu
