[jitsi-dev] UI Skins

#1

In the options there is entry for skins, where can I get skins?

Where are the instructions on making a skin?

Has someone made a visually impaired or dark themed skin?

#2

Hey Craig,

Please look at http://java.net/projects/jitsi/lists/dev/archive/2010-12/message/1. You can download the attachement (demo.zip), which demonstrates the possibilities of a skin (it's not a real skin though). To test it simply follow instructions of the link.

If you open the zip, you can play with colors/colors.properties and images/images.properties to apply skins of you choice. When ready be sure to modify the info.properties and rebuild the zip, then add it again in skins configuration (Options/Advanced/Skins).

Regards,
Yana

Hi Craig,

The felix library seems to have a problem with the zip on Windows due to zip entry names. Could you please also try with the following zip: https://jitsi.org/wiki/pub/uploads/Documentation/resources.zip. If it doesn't work, could you please try to zip the "resources" directory yourself on Windows, adding the info.properties file and try the one you created.

Once it's applied you can try changing icons and colors and remove from the zip any resources that stay the same.

Let me know if this works.

Regards,
Yana

No Cigar, tried a few things and still get same error

I've tried

1. Loading the file in your link (resources.zip)

2. Extracting file resources.zip. Navigating downing into extract file structure to "resources" folder and zipping folder contents then tring to load that zip

3. Zipping the folder (at folder level) "resources" and trying that zip

4. creating a new zip that only contains info.properties and the "styles" and "colors" directories (i've attached this file in case its valid and useful)

Nothing I've tried works

resources.zip (16.7 KB)

Hi Craig,

I've just tried applying the demo.zip on my Jitsi and it worked for me. I'm using Jitsi 2.1.4530.10638 on OS X.

Have you changed the file before applying it? Could you please send us your logs (https://jitsi.org/Documentation/FAQ#logs)?

Cheers,
Yana

Hey Craig,

As you've already noticed, the skinning mechanism is currently quite
experimental and unfortunately I don't believe we will be addressing it
any time soon. We are obviously open to contributions but given the
amount of work we have on stabilizing Jitsi Videobridge, rolling out
Jitsi for Android, extending ICE, and adding WebRTC compatibility to all
three of those, I am afraid this is really not a priority.
