All, FYI:

It sounds like the audio island issues that we experienced during our
last call were due to the following:

Hey all,

Today’s community call is moving to beta in order to test our newly committed simulcast implementation: https://beta.meet.jit.si/TheCall

We’ll be also streaming to youtube, so if you’re just following and not participating, you can watch here: https://youtu.be/EHdUPTkHuCQ

All those are alpha, so if we’re experiencing any issues we may want to move to the well known: https://meet.jit.si/TheCall.

See you in half an hour.

I'm sorry about this, it's my fault that beta froze. It was indeed a
deadlock in the simulcast code (thank you Damian for taking thread/heap
dumps) and I'm working on a fix right now. Also, to avoid such problems
in the future the very next thing we're going to work on is automated
simulcast testing with "torture".

The youtube streaming sounds interesting, I didn't know that the team was
working on that. Is there somewhere we can read more about what's being
done?

Hey Brian,

We are currently just experimenting and we don't know what shape this
would take and whether it would end up being a project.

We'll obviously update everyone if it does!

Cheers,
Emil

Great to see the recording. Since I joined late, was hoping to hear boris's
initial part, but seems that the sound was not recorded.

Great to see the recording. Since I joined late, was hoping to
hear boris's initial part, but seems that the sound was not recorded.

Damn, I was recording on my computer and apparently only captured the played back audio and not the audio from my mike. Sorry about that.

I reported on partial progress with last-n stuff: the split-last-n branch[0] contains a refactoring of the last-n implementation, with the intend to make it more abstract and allow us to more easily implement/improve adaptive last-n and simulcast. It also supports a set of pinned endpoints (and not just a single pinned endpoint).

I also talked briefly about using es2015 through babel: we're discussing using it (Emil has now confirmed that we will proceed), the main advantage we see is the "class" syntax. It adds about 120KB to the size of the final js file (I said this is before minification, but I was wrong - it is after).

Boris
