Just to make sure I understand. Is the currently existing "mute" button not
working for you?

Dear Jitsi developers,
i am a big fan of your program and since the new Skype versions work like
crap and are overloaded with Advertising im only using Jitsi for talking
with my friends and playing videogames with them.
Now my suggestion is to implement a mute function to conference calls to
mute individual people.
The problem i have and i never could solve (in skype) is that, when i
want to play with my roommate and some people in the Internet together, me
and my roommate hear each other. I already tried the hold function but this
doesn't work since he or me would be muted for the whole conference.
If you really would be so kind and implement this very simple feature in
a future version i would be very VERY happy. To my knowledge is the muting
of individuals only possible in Teamspeak and Ventrilo (yet!) but i really
dislike the requirement of launching a server.
PS: I don't want you to exchange the hold function with a muting
function, i wan't the mute function to be added since the hold function is
also very important in my opinion.
Thank you for your time and efforts which made Jitsi to a really great
I believe he wants a sort of moderator to be capable of "muting" others on the call. I don't know much about Jitsi's actions in this area but I think he's using Jitsi similarly to Mumble/Teamspeak/Ventrillo, where it's an "audio chat room" of sorts.

I have opened Ticket 1217<https://trac.jitsi.org/ticket/1217>. Hopefully the formatting/milestones etc are appropriate, please modify as neccessary.
