[jitsi-dev] Slow file transfer with Jitsi XMPP

#1

Hi there,

what could be the reason that XMPP file transfer is slow with Jitsi?

A bitrate limitation in the XMPP server configuration is a likely one.

I have tested over the same server. Client on my side was pidgin.
Remote client was pidgin and Jitsi. With pidgin I got 110kB/s transfer
rate. When the opponent switched to Jitsi, the file transfer is not
faster than 20-25 kB/s. What could be the reason?

Jitsi uses a file transfer method that always makes files go through the server. I think pidgin is using a more recent one (which we should also do at some point).

Cheers,
Emil

Hi Emil,

that the file goes throught he server is what I expected.
I have raised the limits on the server befor. So I am not
expecting the server to throttle. I will check, if pidgin
goes a direct way and also test another program.

Cheers,
Matt
