[jitsi-dev] Resources hog + unable to call landline

Hi there,

I've already stated how I like Jitsi but I've been having some problems that are really annoying. I can't recommend Jitsi to others if it doesn't work well and this is very frustrating because I've already influenced many pple to use it...

First problem that has appeared lately, Jitsi is using almost all resources of my computer while idle. (screenshot of running processes attached + logs). Computer gets hot, slow, consumes a lot of energy and I'm forced to quit jitsi to keep working on my computer.

Specifications
Jitsi 1.0-build.3967 on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit and openJDK Java 6

The second problem is that I can't call land-line telephones anymore using my diamondcard.us account. None of the calls get through, it states "connecting" forever then sais the other party has not replied. I've tested diamondcard online service on my own telephone and it works so the problem is on the Jitsi or Java side (?). This happens on Linux and Mac, same thing.

Specifications
Jitsi 1.0-build.3967 on Mac 10.6.8 or also Ubuntu 12.04

I wish I could help developing or donating or spreading the word but for now I hope I'm helping as a tester.

Thanks

Hey William

Are those dozens of Jitsi processes in your screenshot or is that historical data?

From what I can tell from the logs, these are active processes. Usually Jitsi creates a lock to prevent launching multiple instances. Please kill them all and start just one instance. As far as the landline problems goes, I can't say much as the logs are polluted with 'subscribe' requests from probably those multiple instances.

As far as I know we also fixed some problems with registrarless SIP accounts, one of them being something with endless reconnections. So unless you need them, delete those accounts or see if updating to the current nightly helps.

Regards,
Ingo
