[jitsi-dev] Relaying Streams between JVBs

#1

Can any one give me some ideas? Thanks.

Our goal is connecting two or more Jitsi-videobridges and using them
*relay* streams
(including media streams, signaling, etc… those who can make conferences
work) between each other. Since we can benefit from AT&T network and
dynamically boot Jitsi-videobridges to achieve load balance and optimized
route between them.

We came out two basic ideas:

1) The first one is do some modifications on Jitsi-videobridge, I also
spent lots of time on that to figure out its structure. But it’s really
hard to get a starting point to change the code of JVB without tutorial.

2) The second one is to build a proxy between JVB without modifying it,
which is we preferred. I noticed that there are two projects: jitsi-hammer
and jirecon, which separately used to send media streams and receive media
streams. So maybe I can combine the two ones as a relay proxy, but I still
not finding the proper method to connect them. Or just use jirecon relay
the media streams instead of recording.

Since I’m not quite familiar the lower tier details about how to forward
the received media streams, or how to connect JVBs. So I post our project
here and hope we can discuss together

Thanks~

Wen,

As Pawel already answered your question here:

http://lists.jitsi.org/pipermail/dev/2016-April/028256.html

cascading bridges is something that one would need to implement in Jicofo and not the bridge itself. I suggest you read his message.

I don't really understand exactly what you are trying to achieve with a relay. What purpose would it serve and why wouldn't you just connect the bridges directly?

More importantly though, it is unclear to me exactly what you are trying to load balance and why you think that the best way of achieving this is through different bridges. Describing your objectives better would help people give you more relevant answers.
