[jitsi-dev] Question about recent Jitsi nightly

#1

Hi Developers,

5136

   - Changes ui service to be able to start sms chats from plugins.

5135

   - Adds possible subtype of stored messages, and option to filter them by
   this subtype.
   - Adds property to enable sending sms to all numbers.
   - Fixes adding/removing correct listener for OpSetSms.
   - Renames recent messages to recent conversations.

What',s the SMS thing about?

Hi,

These are UI changes in order to support sms functionality. As this is
server dependent its up to the provider to implement and support it.

Hi,

as I said it is server specific, you need to implement it for your server,
it is a operation set for the protocol providers.

Hi Damian,

I understand it is server specific but if I'm going to tools > options >
select an already added account > edit, where would I expect to see the
protocol for SMS? I don't see anything pertaining to sms in the property
editor, either. Are you suggesting some menu for SMS would automatically
appear in some menu if jitsi determined it was enabled on the server?

Thanks,
jungle

No, it is not implemented we just have few UI elements for it. You need to
code it and plug it into jitsi. It is server specific as I said, I mean no
standard for it, so there is no way for us to add it, it is job of the
provider that provides that service to write a plugin for jitsi. Everybody
is implementing it differently, one use SIP, other use xmpp, other use
webservices and so on.
