[jitsi-dev] Presentation

#1

Hello
My name is Joao and I have recently started using jitsi and it looked like
a very nice platform that can easily replace things like hangouts for video
conference.
I would love to start contributing to the project.

I develop in Java and Javascript, what is the best project to start with?
Where are features picked up from?
Basically how to start contributing?

Thanks
Joao

Hi!

Welcome to the Jitsi community, we’re glad to have you here!

I don’t think we’ve made a great job so far at keeping a list of bugs / features that are “good first contributions”, so here is my suggestion:

- install the software and try to use it on your own machine / VM
- if you find the process is not properly documented -> PR!
- once you have it up and running, start using it. Use with your family, friends and enemies!
- if you notice anything erroneous or see room for improvement -> get in touch via GitHub or the mailing list so we can guide you a bit through the process and avoid doing duplicated work (in case someone is already tackling that problem)
- rinse and repeat

Cheers!
