[jitsi-dev] newb question on compiling jitsi

#1

After running ant make (yes I did ant rebuild previously and the os

specific

target too), and having seen the success message in the console, I would
expect to see the jitsi installer in the release folder. However, even

though

I can run jitsi inside Eclipse and it seems to work fine, I don't see any
installer files for any OS.

'ant rebuild' only builds the Java sources.

I'm probably doing some silly mistake, but could someone point me in the
right direction? I feel like I'm pretty close but not there yet.

The various installers need OS specific tools and are defined in a separate
ant file: /resources/install/build.xml. Beware that building the install
packages is not easy at all.

Thanks

Ingo

Thanks Ingo.

I'm about to give it a shot, although your warning scared me a bit

Before I get my hands dirty, can you tell me if the instructions
here<https://jitsi.org/Documentation/HowToBuildAnInstaller>are still
valid or have they been deprecated?

Thanks

These instructions are for building a new installer from scratch. I'd
suggest you try to build one using the existing build scripts. You'll find
plenty of information in the archives of this list.

Thanks
