[jitsi-dev] New feature Windows - sound input/output as default communication device

#1

Hi,
Jitsi should have an option to select as sound input/output a default
communication device which is selected in windows. When we change default
communication device in Windows Jitsi should automaticly change
output/input device as well.

Hello, Teraldar!

How does one select a default communication device as sound
input/output in Windows exactly?

Like in the attached screenshot.

I also thought about this - and I think it should be possible to add the
default-devices as an additional entry in the WASAPI device lists. There's a
caveat however: when one changes the default device in Windows during a
call, it becomes invalid in the WASAPI rendering path
(AUDCLNT_E_DEVICE_INVALIDATED). The device would need to be reopened, but
this would also solve the intermittent problems with losing a still
connected device.
