[jitsi-dev] Multipe issues regarding stability and bugs.

Hi,

is nobody interested in make Jitsi more stable?
I repost this again. And this exceptions are not
the only ones.

I also discovered that call history and groups are
cleared completely when I use the "watch" button right
of the address line to switch between groups and history.

3. Question about long startup / service started up even they are not used.
Are they just needed for configuration screens? Or is this the full
implementation?
If someone does not need them, why start everything available
beforehand? The implementation
should only run services which are configured and used. This would
reduce resource consumption
and maybe lead to a faster startup.

Hey

is nobody interested in make Jitsi more stable?
I repost this again. And this exceptions are not
the only ones.

We all are, but as you surely know, our resources are limited and therefore
concentrated on the most important issues.

I also discovered that call history and groups are
cleared completely when I use the "watch" button right
of the address line to switch between groups and history.

I cannot follow you here. Could you describe that a bit more detailed?

Prerequesites:

- Jitsi Version: Jitsi 1.0-build.3967
- Kubuntu 12.10 amd64
- Oracle Java 7

[...]

Here is a list of issues / exceptions:

1. Lots of messages of the form:
    19:00:38.766 INFO:
impl.resources.ResourceManagementServiceImpl.getImageURL().543 Missing
resource for key: service.gui.MAIN_WINDOW_BACKGROUND

I've seen that too, but it doesn't cause any harm and as far as I can tell
this is fixed in the nightlies.

2. In our session there can be some packet loss. This leads to an
immediate break of the connection
crashes the whole Ubuntu! So I fear there is some sensitivity on
packet loss. Maybe the stats will help:
[...]

While connection problems/packet loss is one thing, a crashing application
tearing the desktop with it is another story. There were also a lot of
improvements during the last year, so I'd ask you to test again with either
a nightly or wait till tomorrow to use the 2.0 version.

3. Question about long startup / service started up even they are not

used.

Are they just needed for configuration screens? Or is this the full
implementation? If someone does not need them, why start everything
available beforehand? The implementation should only run services
which are configured and used. This would reduce resource consumption
and maybe lead to a faster startup.
[...]

Each service needs to check at startup if it's enabled or not. These
replacement-services don't cause any harm and are certainly not the reason
for the "slow" startup. We could maybe look into showing the UI a bit
faster, so that the user recognizes that the application is actually
starting.

No, and fixed since a few months in the nightlies.

Could you please open a bug report in the issue tracker to always use 128bit
for master-passwords?

6. 18:59:54.530 SEVERE:
impl.osdependent.SystemTray.getDefaultDesktop().65 Failed to initialize
the java.awt.SystemTray implementation.

There's not much we can do if the *nix-Desktops change their implementation
so that a simply tray icon cannot be created with standard Java code. We're
open to suggestions though.

Cheers,
Matt
