[jitsi-dev] Microsoft Lync (Office Communicator) support in JITSI

#1

Hello

I'd like to add or to help in adding Microsoft Lync (Office Communicator)
support into JITSI.

Here is example of ntlm authentication and some Lync usage.
http://code.google.com/p/ntlm-java/wiki/SipExample

Lync is used as enterprise messenger/presence/voice. It is integrated with
ms office.

Lync uses SIP/SIMPLE with huge amount of ms extensions. (ms authentication,
ms presence extensions). All ms extensions are documented by ms and can be
found on msdn:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc307432.aspx

So - how do you think - what is best way to implement this - extend SIP
protocol or create new one, based on SIP?

First of all we'd need to have the codec used by Lync/OCS. As far as I remember it's still proprietary und doesn't use RTP but something that goes over TCP (sic!). Unless that's been changed from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2010, this would be a huge effort.
