[jitsi-dev] MetaContactList with non-persistent groups results in error (SEVERE)

#1

Hi all,

I am confused by the following message:

17:49:50.261 SEVERE: [42]
impl.contactlist.MclStorageManager.metaContactAdded().1275 Couldn't find
parent of a newly added contact: MetaContact[ DisplayName=nickname]

I get this message for every (non-persistent) contact I add to a
non-persistent contact group. I create these contacts as volatile
contacts and they should not be stored. The error does not occur when I
make the contact group persistent, but I do not want that, since it is a
group for volatile contacts.

I discovered that because the contact group is non-persistent it isn't
processed (stored). It seems that this is the root cause why the error
occurs. Can anyone with more knowledge of MetaContactList shed any light
on this? It may very well be a bug in my implementation. If that is the
case, then I do not know what I am doing wrong.

Thanks,
Danny

Hi,

no, it is not a bug and most probably there is no problem in your
code, actually everything should be working fine. The only thing is
that this error should not be printed in this situation. If you look
at the print in the sources, as the parent is not persistent there is
no node in the xml and no modification of the xml is made, which will
be the case as the group is non persistent.
Will fix that so no error print is displayed in situation where a
contact is added to non persistent group.

Hi,

I kind of thought it would be as simple as this. I couldn't find
anything wrong and it didn't really make sense.

Thanks!
