[jitsi-dev] Low bandwidth settings

#1

Hi guys,

What you can recommend as configuration for jitsi-meet, jvb, jicofo to use when we are with bad (or instable) network with low bandwidth?

With the recent versions of jitsi-meet, jvb, jicofo, we face much more freezes and sometimes loosing videos. Sometimes videos fail to restart after a huge packet loss.

What are the parameters that we can play in this case ?

Thanks,

Arthur

What versions have you been using? We are currently neck deep in fixing those, so expect it to get better soon. There should be no config option you need to change, the idea is that it adapts to bandwidth requirements / availability automagically.

Cheers,

Hi saghul,

Very well, i see lot of commits and huge rewriting. Good news.

I always compiled packages myself from git sources . My last stable production versions were:

- jicofo : master @ f0748019bd4983d95797aa97cd71c5a4154c4685 (too old)

- jvb : master @ 419aa6e67234aa6c1a689c2c5858bd386bf1dd28 (too old)

So actually i try too follow changes and test versions from master but i meet these freezes when the network is unstable.
How can i find recent stable versions on github ? Can you point out some commits or tags? Thanks.

Best Regards,
Arthur

Hi,

The version we release in stable goes in here:
https://download.jitsi.org/stable/.

From there you can see latest stable jitsi-meet is

jitsi-meet_1.0.1622-1_all.deb. Now you can go in all repos
(jitsi-meet, lib-jitsi-meet, jicofo, jitsi-videobridge,
jitsi-meet-torture) and checkout the tag jitsi-meet_1622, now you have
all the source that is in stable.
