[jitsi-dev] Jitsi XMPP Account Being Deleted

#1

Running 2.5.5114 x64 on Windows 8 x64 (I do not know if this has been fixed in latest nightly), but when users goes to open up Jitsi their XMPP account (only account they had added to Jitsi) is deleted and they must re-create (they are prompted the 'first launch log-in prompt' to add new account).

I've seen this happen on two other PCs (of ~30) in the past few weeks.

Here are logs. Thanks.

I have experienced (some time ago) that running out of disk space in the home file system while Jitsi is running clears the Jitsi config file so all settings etc has to be re-done.

Interesting but not the case here as there is plenty of space left on these HDDs. Hopefully someone can dissect the logs if they have time.

The Zip of the logs shows that at least once Jitsi was started twice at the same time. this is normally prevented, but if users click too fast it might happen. Obviously the two instances then fight with each other over the config file.

Have you tried using the database config service? It's still experimental, but it might help you. (Search the archives on how to enable it)

Unfortunately we’ve seen this happen on 5 machines since rolling out to 50 machines. That is a 10% occurrence. I am sad but we will have to stay with Spark due to this issue. That and multiple users are complaining about missing notifications (window not blinking in taskbar). I’ve noticed this myself too where sometimes I will not realize that a 2nd or 3rd person has IM’d me until I see there username as red text in a tabbed IM window.

We’ll have to re-visit once the GUI and database config service is in stable build. Looking forward to it!

This just occurred for me but this has happened about 4 times total.

Do you know at what point it deletes all account information? The most
recent was when I closed Jitsi because a VOIP provider was not connecting a
call so I wanted to restart Jitsi; upon restarting, Jitsi's splash screen
stayed active for a few minutes so I closed all Jitsi processes in task
manager and reopened. After doing so, I observed Jitsi did not have ANY of
my accounts configured.

What's interesting is that Jitsi keeps the buddy list group names and the
call history. Have you also observed that?

I saw it when they were logging in. The "new account" window would pop-up.

It could be that windows force closed the application when their computer shutdown, rebooted or logged off. Which would be similar to your force-closing via Task Manager.
